Recently reorganized Feb 25, 2006

Awhile ago, I got a much less cumbersome flat screen and our son brought me a cordless keyboard and mouse, all of which free up space and reduce cord clutter.
SO, what's left, today?

-screen and the old medical textbook it's sitting on for height + a small(metal) frog on the book.
-a mini document holder
-1 speaker with skype mike hanging on it
-logitech device
-holder for pens, clips,etc.
-the document I'm working on + notepad
-some terminology notes to enter (one of these days)and an AARP bulletin
- a post-it pad
-a couple of printed e-mails + an insurance form to file
-the remaining tower of my husband's notebooks and papers (there were 3, but no hope for zero!!)

-the cat is on my lap now, but eyeing the keyboard.
The ADSL modem is on the CPU, along with a few music CDs. We have a wall-to-wall bookshelf behind the desk, so I can avoid dictionaries and not-in-use CDs on the desk. I put dictionaries on a trolley next to me when needed.
Not bad, but clutter builds up so easily.

What's a "self-made post-it"? Feb 25, 2006

I think this is it! No, it's not... forgot a pack of self-made Post-it. Sorry about that.

Do you mean you start with paper, add some low-tack glue, etc.?

er... maybe "custom" post-it is the correct term. The fact is that after proofreading I often find myself surrounded by tons of sheets. So, rather than thrashed 'em, I cut them in four parts and use the back for writing. No glue involved, I've got a large magnetic blackboard with magnets. Cheers!

1 glass of water (I always drink when working )
1 full ashtray, with a pack of cigarettes and a lighter next to it (no, I won't quit, either)
some junk mail I found in my mailbox yesterday - thanks for reminding me that I should send them to the thrash now
1 sleeping cat - I'm lucky that he's accepted not to sleep on the keyboard at this time

Oh, and my reading glasses...

I feel so disgustingly tidy, I feel like messing up things a little...

Self-made Post-it and ruler... Feb 26, 2006

I can dump my monitor, keyboard etc. in one minute, if I have to, but four of us can use the table if I just tidy up.

My pens and pencils are in two pretty Japanese trays for shushi, and sitting on top of each other on the monitor base.

Not mentioned so far:
small cloth for cleaning glasses,
small letter opener,
bag of bird seeeds (it is winter, and the birds come to the window since the dog passed away

Self-made Post-it: I do exactly the same, staple them together in one corner, back-to-front, then they are kept together but easy to detach. I have half-A4 size as well.

Ruler: to scratch your back, of course.
And a calculator is a must, to give your hands a rest from the keyboard.
