Bonjour,
Merci,

Your client should have gone to a BANK and ask them to issue a bank draft (Money order) in *Euro* to send to you.
Canada post only issued postal money orders in Canadian and US funds if my memory serves.
As far as I know, the postal money orders are mainly used for Canada & US... so I can understand why your local post office would not accept it.
You need a Bank Draft in Euro, which you will be able to cash at your local bank.

Best of luck with this one...

François,
It depends. You should carefully read the money order. If it says \'international\', then your post office is OBLIGATED by international treaties to honour it. However, it is not impossible that your local post office is not allowed to honour it and you will have to go to a more important one.
If it is not an international one, your customer made a mistake and should issue you a new one.

International payments are a NORMAL service of virtually all national postal services all over the world.
There is absolutely no need to go through banks. On the contrary, banks are usually far more expensive: they charge higher fees and they give you a less advantageous exchange rate.

I have had similar problems with US checks/wire transfers, but never with a money order. Bypass your local bureau de poste and go dirctly to the city/regional central office. Once I got through to the right person, my problem was solved quickly.
