blind flanges
These sound like the plates bolted to segments of pipes to seal them off for pressure testing. Often called "blind flanges". I can imagine them resembling a frying pan, but don't understand the "queue" part of it, unless the "flanges" do indeed have a handle, which would be news to me!

PADDLE BLINDS
Once again, I have learnt something and feel these "queues de poêles" may well be "paddle blinds" as shown at this site:

Paddle and Figure Eight Blinds
Blinds are one of the main means used to gain a complete shutoff in piping. Two types of blinds are generally used in plants. The first, called a paddle blind, is nothing more than a piece of metal thick enough to withstand the pressure it will be subjected to. The paddle blind is inserted between two flanges, with a gasket on each side, and tightened.

If this is indeed what they are, whyever do they not call them "platines 'raquette de pongiste aveugle' " and spare the translator?
