La Queens Hotels, Job offer Scam Jan 11, 2013

I have applied for the job as advertised in your site. I got a two-paper interview . I took that seriously. Then, sent the replies and got a contract signed by Anthony Logan with the same Logo of the Hotels pages. Actually , I did not think that it is a scam as being advertised on PROZ .com ( I am a member in PROZ) . Their poor English and even making serious mistakes like ( making me The Employer .. not the employee). Let me tell you that this put me in a hard and critical situation as I start... See more

However, after having some discussions with some friends of mine, I was about to decide to go there and apply for the visa. However, I think Proz did not do its best for this scam. You should alert your clients as soon as possible . You should have a clear Notice on the site and even send mails to all of your clients as well informing them about that scam and that mistake.

I am glad that you did not fall for this scam. Please note that as a freelancer you are responsible for your own risk management procedures, as explained in this FAQ.

As soon as the scam was detected, three actions were taken by ProZ.com:
  • This thread was started in the forum dedicated to scams. all users tracking this forum got email notifications

  • A Blue Board page was created for this 'client', including a scam warning.

  • A scam alert was sent on this issue. As a ProZ.com member you can subscribe to these alerts (or to a weekly digest).

    This is an "employment abroad" scam. You can read more about this in our scam alert center or in the dedicated wiki page.

    Thank you, thank you and thank you again because I was about to fall for it. I sent them a email and they sent me two interviews for me to answer. I answered them and then they sent me a contract for me to sign. That's when I started thinking there was something fishy and I looked for the hotel in google but never found that address.
    It sounded too good to be true anyway!
