The IP address is from Spain, BTW.

My favorite parts:

- Dr John
- your present location

Well, this man is probably right, and I should cut him some slack. Translators preferably work from their yachts or their private jets. Or their gypsy wagon.

Right Place , Wrong Time Sep 29, 2011

The good doctor probably wants to make sure you've "been in the right place,
but it must have been the wrong time".

In fact here he is.

I hope you did not turn down this gentleman's request. He needs your translation for an " up coming conference" and I am sure he will pay handsomely, much more than your humble quote.:-)))

Best,
Lee

Don't see anything wrong about "present location" Sep 29, 2011

Personally, I have three home bases in three different countries, and occasionally work from other places besides those three. Most of my clients don't even know where I am.
At least two other translators I know live a similar lifestyle.

Lowercasepronounitis Sep 30, 2011

Dr. John is a severe case of acute lowercasepronounitis, a terrible condition whose symptoms include geographical dislocation, blurred identification, recurrent lying, and inability to pay bills.

Oh yes, don't get me going on lowercasepronounitis. People with this disorder cannot coordinate use of the letter "i" and the shift key at the same time. This is probably exacerbated by a total disregard for the pain it causes in their target readers.

Must have been funnier Sep 30, 2011

if this so-called Dr. John called himself Dr. "LoftHAUS" instead of Lofthouse to deceive a German native.
