Export .ttx instead of bilingual doc Thread poster: Paula Hernández

Is there anyway to export a .ttx file instead of a bilingual .doc with MemoQ? The client sent me a .ttx and I rather send back the file in the same format.
Thanks! | | |
(Sorry, I replied about TMX when you asked about TTX. I must have my morning coffee!)
Hm... Unfortunately you cannot use memoQ to convert a non-TTX document to TTX. You can use memoQ to translate TTX files, but the TTX file must exist already.
TTX is a Trados proprietary format, and you can only make them with Trados BEFORE translation. You cannot use Trados' TagEditor to convert a bilingual Word document to a TTX file. If you don't have Trados and need help converting this particular document to TTX (to be able to retranslate it in memoQ so that you get a translated TTX file), just let me know. I can convert it for you. Once you have translated your TTX file in memoQ, all you have to do is an "Export (dialog)" instead of "Export (bilingual)".

That is what I was thinking
Anyway, last night I discovered how to do it.
Export (stored path), that option exports it in the original format.
But, hey, thanks for always being there! | | | So you already had a source TTX... | Mar 27, 2011 |
Great.
Indeed, "Export (stored path)" exports to the same location, but you can use "Export (dialog)" to export to a location of your choice (in our case here we keep the source document, and create a copy before review and another one after review, to comply with the EN 15038 standard).
I just thought I'd add one little suggestion: if you translate TTX files containing figures (for instance lists of data, tables with localisable figures, dates you want to localise, etc... See more Great.

I just thought I'd add one little suggestion: if you translate TTX files containing figures (for instance lists of data, tables with localisable figures, dates you want to localise, etc.), when you add the file to the project you might want to use "Add document as...", choose the TTX file, and check the "Import unsegmented content". This way, memoQ will show you segments for the data, which you can then adapt nicely to your language. TagEditor does not segment anything that does not contain letters.
Take care!
