What is the upper limit for the size of a translation memory in memoQ? I mean the "practical" limit (if there is one) above which the work is significantly slowed down.
I'm translating a project about 110.000 words long. The project is published in different versions, and it might be a good idea to use a single TM for the whole document for version control reasons. But would it be too big?

Well, if you had said 110K segments in the memory I would have said that it was quite sizeable, but 110K words is really nothing for a product like MemoQ.
My experience is that MemoQ slows down a bit in analysis with memories containing 200K segments and over. As for all other operations except analysing, MemoQ is equally fast with a 1K-segment memory and with a 200K-segment one.

Hi,
I'm using a read-only TM with 500k+ segments aside with a small TM of 10k for updates.
Here my experiences with this combination:
- The lookup routine is still fast
- Concordance may slow down considerably on single instances.
According to the latest Webinar, MemoQ 4.5 will be up to 8 times faster. Let's see what comes out.

My main TM now counts approx. 700,000 segments, and still seems to be working fine.
Has anyone heard anything about the maximum size for the new memoQ 5?
btw, I have 12 GB Ram, an SSD, an i7, watercooling, etc.

It was October 2010 when I reported about the apparent slow performance analysing jobs with bigger memories.
I just want to report that the situation has improved quite a lot, and with recent releases Statistics now happen really fast even with our largest memories.

You laugh , but I am now able to run concordance searches across several VERY LARGE TMs and TBs,
... DGT_TM, EMEA, EU Commission, EU Parliament, KDE4, etc. (from: http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/)
and basically never even have to wait more than 1 or 2 seconds!
