The Memory menu has an item to import Excel tables (source + target). But sometimes you want to import one or several columns (source only) directly to the TM, in order to auto-translate non-translatables like names of manufacturers, brand names, part numbers with letters etc.

The Memory menu has an item to import Excel tables (source + target). But sometimes you want to import one or several columns (source only) directly to the TM, in order to auto-translate non-translatables like names of manufacturers, brand names, part numbers with letters etc.
Here is an easy way to do that:
Copy the relevant columns to a new Excel file (e.g. column L in the example below).
Import this Excel file into your current translation project, make sure that segmentation is set to "No segmentation in cells".
Copy all source segments to the target side.
Commit the file to the TM.
Use this TM to auto-translate the relevant columns.
You can also decide to auto-translate columns that contain cells with part codes. But you have to be careful when they contain words in the source language. Do a visual scan and collect typical words in the source language that are present in these colums.
I'll import column G in the demo and use this list of typical source words:
Draht|für|Glieder|mit|nach|Profil|Winkel|Zeichnung
The vertical bar character is used to separate words when using a filter in CafeTran Espresso later. (You can save lists like these for your next projects.)
