Is there a way that a non-PayPal member can make a credit card payment to a PayPal member without actually being requested to become a PayPal member (ie., registering an ID and password and... paying the annual fee for CC payments)?

Their client support is not very responsive on this one...

Thank you for your feedback.

Not as far as I know.... Jul 1, 2002

I have been using Paypal for a long time, and if you want to pay a person by credit card and they want to receive it on Paypal, then you have to sign-up for Paypal to be able to do it.

But there is no fee to sign-up, you actually get $5.00 for signing-up. There is a first time transaction amount limit (until your credit card is verified) of US$100.00

Another option would be to go on a site where you can purchase a money order using your credit card and they will issue the money order and send it by mail to the person you wish to pay.

I think *bidpay* offers such a service, maybe western union online as well could be an option?

Never looked at it, just some thoughts here...

This would help you bypass the Paypal thing altogether.

I hope this helps you a little bit.

I agree with Nathalie, Paypal does not require a sign-up fee, Jul 2, 2002

and yes, you need to be registered to send money using your credit card.

Just bear in mind that sending money through your credit card is like getting a cash advance, and the cash advance fee applies (whatever percentage you pay according to your agreement with your credit card company).

Western Union online is easy, but a lot more expensive (depending on the country, of course) - to some countries (my experience is US to Russia) you will have to pay a fee of about 10 to 15% of the amount you\'re sending. The advantage is only for the addressee - they do not have to pay anything to receive the money, and Western Union offices are all over the world...

Bidpay is charging a regressive rate - about 3% on money orders of $700 (max allowed), a little higher on smaller amounts - like 5%.

Hope it helps.

there is indeed a sign-up fee... Jul 2, 2002

... for non-US users, but this was not really the point of my question and I wish to thank you both for your contributions.

Vincent

PS: to view the \"small prints charge\", click on Nathalie\'s profile for instance, then on the PayPal icon, then \"First time user\", and \"Non-US\" for the address. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and read the small prints in light grey.
