An agency in France owes me EUR1500 - the invoice was sent on 22/2/03 so we\'re now heading toward 90 days - and we agreed 30 days with a discount if the invoice was paid before the 30 days. They didn\'t respond to my 3 emails. I got a French-speaking colleague to call a while back and they promised payment within 60 days - of course it hasn\'t come. I called yesterday and got my point across (just about) and was told they \"are changing their bank at the moment\", which I don\'t believe for one... I\'m going to send them an invoice for interest and inform them that translators share information on payment practices. The question is how do you go about getting paid in France - is there an equivalent to the small claims court? Any recommendations - especially as my French is very rusty! I live in France and have had problems similar to the one you are having, but obviously living in the country makes it easier to claim the outstanding amount. A colleage who lives in Canada had this problem, and I contacted them for him, because it was cheaper, and I also threatened them to get a lawyer in France to deal with the outstanding payment. I live in France and have had problems similar to the one you are having, but obviously living in the country makes it easier to claim the outstanding amount. A colleage who lives in Canada had this problem, and I contacted them for him, because it was cheaper, and I also threatened them to get a lawyer in France to deal with the outstanding payment. They must have realised that because I live in France I was in a position to handle the case through proxy. He received payment 10 days later. If you like I could do the same for you.

First, I think you should post your comments on Blue Board and similar as this is well beyond a reasonable time limit.
I also think you should be extremely firm and send a final demand and/or letter from a solicitor (or threaten legal action).
I have also had problems with a particular agency in France and if you e-mail me directly I can give you further details and suggestions on how to deal with them, in case this is the same agency.

I am having the same problem with an Agency based in Paris. They were supposed to pay me at the end of March, the amount is 400 euros. I know it\'s probably NOT THAT MUCH, but it was a legal and very complicated translation I had to deliver in 3 days. I sent them dozens of emails and never got an answer. I phoned them before Easter and the lady sounded surprised that I hadn\'t got paid yet. She assured me I\'d get the money immediately, but of course nothing happened. Two days ago I decided to s... Two days ago I decided to send them a registered letter with a sort of ultimatum. The registered lettered MUST be answered. And if nothing happens, I\'ll decide for a legal action.
Shall we mention the name of the agency?? It might be the same! I haven\'t rated it yet on the Blue Board for fear of not getting paid or things like that, but there\'s nothing more I can do at this time and I think they deserve it.
