I am owed over €1300 by a German agency. Payment has been promised but has not been forthcoming, despite my \'Mahnungen\' and letters from the President of the VÜ and the British Consulate General in Munich! I have since discovered that this lady is notorious, has been bankrupt and restarted with a slight name variation. The ITI advised me to pursue the matter through the English County Court syastem (small claims court). I would however presumably need a German lawyer to register and enforce an English judgement. I would be glad to know the likely cost of this. Would a debt collection agency be more effective despite the extra cost involved in such a procedure?
Any advice welcome. I know I can\'t name names but please other translators do check Blue Board or Yahoo Zahlungspraxis before accepting work so that you don\'t get taken for a ride too. ▲ Collapse
