Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with Across, as to ease of use, compatibilty/conversion possibilities (esp. with Trados 6.5, Word, Excel, xml), problems & pitfalls, etc?

Thanks in advance!
Peter

have heard much about this tool Sep 20, 2006

Hi !
In the past few years, also have downloaded and tried out a few initial versions. But they may have improved. From what I understand from their marketing strategy, that their marketing team makes the purchase of the tool mandatory, which may cost about USD 100,- That is as far as I know of the story. But haven´t seen their latest editions though. Best Brandis

Across is free for BDÜ members and acredited freelancers Sep 20, 2006

So far I know, Across license is free for the BDÜ members and 'acredited' freelancers. The experience I had with such versions was quite satisfactory. It is an integrated translation environment that allows to translate the classical ms-files(doc, rtf, xls, ppt and some compiled programs) and once translated, most of the formatting will be exported to translated files. Its worth its price, but not well known yet.

It is an integrates tool with full project management and it is compatible with other TM systems because it import and exports tmx files and various terminology import formats (MultiTerm, TermStar, csv...)

Try it out, it is free and I think very user-friendly.

As I told 'it was not well known yet', I meant in my country (Spain). Only a very few agencies uses it here. Sorry!
