This very phrase came up before (www.proz.com/kudoz/803929) but I disagree with the first part of the chosen translation, and preferred the rejected one. That said:
Determining appears to be used:
"...where the fraud has been the determining cause of the contract;" (www.lectlaw.com/def/f079.htm)
Impulsive, however, has a completely different meaning in English. What is meant is the reason or motivation that is driving (impulsando) the person or entity to enter into the contract.
